About

I'm a local artist living in Petworth.  My work is recognised for its distinctive gilded pieces, combining alternative photographic processes with luminous gold, silver, and copper leaf. My goal is to create beautiful, thought-provoking, and truly unusual art.

I am Inspired by historical photography processes and the stunning South Downs landscape where I grew up, I capture subjects like ancient trees and abandoned architecture. Through experimentation over time I developed my own unique process of transforming my photography into atmospheric, dreamlike images. You might even recognise some local landmarks!

Each image is meticulously selected and edited before being hand-gilded with layers of gold, silver or copper leaf to achieve the desired effect. In addition to original artworks, I offer limited edition unframed prints.

For presentation, I am now concentrating on using re-purposed and vintage frames, including old critall windows. These frames, often with their original glass, contribute to reimagined artworks with unique patinas.  I have a collection of windows and various frames which are available for commissions.  Please feel free to have a chat.

Beyond gilding I also explore encaustic photography.  This involves building up layers of a medium which is a mixture of heated beeswax and damar resin from trees.  It has a rich history spanning over 2,000 years, originating with the ancient Greeks.  Revived in the 20th century with the advent of electric heating tools, it continues to be used by artists today, resulting in very unique texturised works that can be polished to a beautiful shine.
